Normanston Gatehouse
- East Tower Battlements
This is the main entrance of the castle onto Normanston Grove, the main road leading up the hill to the centre of Oxton-On-The-Wold village.
This is the way in and out favoured by most of the castle dwellers in general day to day use when nipping to the shops, going to the pub, meeting friends and venturing out for walks.
In emergency situations the Gatehouse can be used to repel unwanted visitors by engaging its One-Way-Maze Defence, whereby the victim finds that no matter which of the Inner Gatehouse doors they try to proceed through into the castle grounds it always leads them back out onto the street. In extreme emergencies the Gatehouse can also be completely locked down and fortified at a moments notice.
Most often it is simply a storage area for the refuse bins of the Mad Wirral Bohemians, which somebody has to remember to put outside every friday for collection - usually Sparky.
