Baron Grove - The Ghost House
This empty old house, next door to The Tea House, is where local residents not yet ready to move away - despite the fact of being no longer alive - have chosen to set up their own little community.
This has been due, in part, to the limitless generosity of spirit of one of Oxton-On-The-Wold's most infectiously welcoming larger than life characters, and founding fathers of the development of Oxa-tun in the 11th Century; Baron Bamber Grove.
This eccentric, moustachiod gent is unmistakable in his voluminous finery and grand ornate helmet which frame his beaming ever cheerful face. He is well renowned as the most congenial host of all ghosts but equally as well renowned for his rare yet terrifying wrath when enraged! As a fantastic force to be reckoned with he has proven himself a tremendous ally to some and a fearsome foe to others.
The quality of his character can best be judged from the quality of the many long term co-habitants who have come to stay at his house and the guests he frequently entertains. Among them include ex-royals, leaders of state, theatrical performers, artists and the original architects of the castle; the Gasquoine family, who regularly pop by for a short holiday every now and then.
